  11. Conclusion

Americans spent $158 billion on their pets in the latest year counted by the American Pet Products Association, and APPA projects $165 billion in 2026. Pet food and treats alone are $68.3 billion of that, and APPA counts 95 million US households with a pet.

That doesn't make it easy to win. Pet owners are loyal to what works, so a new food or supplement has to beat a habit, not just a competitor. The big retailers own the shelf, and every DTC brand on Meta is chasing the same dog owner with the same first-box discount.

So which pet brands are actually winning in 2026, and how? We pulled live ad and traffic data for 15 of the top pet brands from Adspo, added reported or estimated monthly revenue for each, and broke down the growth lesson behind every one.

What is a pet brand?

A pet brand sells food, health products, toys, gear or services for pets, either direct to owners online, through retailers, or both. This list covers the brands that sell to owners, from the two largest US pet retailers to young DTC brands built on Instagram and Facebook ads.

APPA splits US pet spending into food and treats, supplies and OTC medicine, vet care and other services. Food is the biggest slice, which is why most of this list is food and supplement brands.

Why pet brands suit subscription

Dogs and cats eat every day, and owners hate running out. That makes pet food, treats and supplements natural subscriptions. Chewy says 84.6% of its net sales in its latest quarter came from Autoship customers. It's also why DTC pet brands can afford big first-order offers: the money comes from month six, not month one.

How we picked the top pet brands

We started in Adspo, not from memory. A brand only made this list if it has a verified Adspo profile with active Meta ads. Then we looked at:

  • Monthly website visits from Adspo's traffic data.
  • Active ads and creatives running on Meta right now.
  • Creative velocity: how many new creatives the brand launched in the last 30 days.
  • Reported revenue and growth from filings, company statements and business press.
  • Category impact: brands that created or redefined a product type, like fresh dog food, air-dried food or fresh cat food.

We grouped the 15 brands into four categories and ordered them by monthly visits within each one. All Adspo data was pulled on October 23, 2026. We left out brands with a verified profile but no active ads, like Earth Rated, and brands without a verified profile.

For revenue, we used a reported figure wherever one exists, converted to a monthly number. Where a brand doesn't report revenue, we estimated its own-site sales as monthly visits × conversion rate × average order value. The conversion rate is a range of 0.7x to 1.3x the Pet category figure in Dynamic Yield's ecommerce benchmarks (4.84%), and the order value comes from each brand's own prices, checked on October 23, 2026. For subscription food brands whose prices only appear after a quiz, we didn't model a number.

Pet retailers

Two retailers sell most of the brands below. Their Meta ads look nothing like a DTC brand's, because many of them are paid for by the brands they stock.

1. Chewy: the online pet store built on Autoship

Chewy is the largest online pet retailer in the US. It reported $3.33 billion in net sales for the quarter ended August 2, 2026, up 7.3%, from 21.7 million active customers.

It's also moving into vet care. Chewy closed its acquisition of Modern Animal in May 2026, taking its Chewy Vet Care clinics from 18 to 47.

Adspo data:

  • Website: chewy.com
  • Monthly visits: 56.2M
  • Est. monthly revenue: ~$1.1B (reported, $3.33B in Q2 fiscal 2026)
  • Active ads: 23,190 (3,925 creatives, 43% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 654
  • Top markets: US 87%, Canada 2%, UK 1%
  • Instagram followers: 1.1M

Growth lesson:

Make the reorder automatic. 84.6% of Chewy's sales come from Autoship customers. Once a bag of food ships itself, the customer stops shopping around.

What their ads show:

  • 23,190 ads from 3,925 creatives: about 6 ads per creative, the most duplication of any brand here.
  • The most served ads in Chewy's account are pharmacy offers, like 30% off a first pharmacy order, and vendor-brand ads for Fancy Feast and others.
  • Its longest running active ads are app install videos, live for about 420 days, with hooks like "Don't get up."

2. Petco: the store chain selling vet care

Petco has been selling pet supplies for more than 60 years. It reported $1.49 billion in net sales for the quarter ended August 1, 2026, with comparable sales up 0.6%, and ended the quarter with 1,377 stores.

Its ads show where it's pushing: services. Vet visits bring owners into stores, and stores sell food and supplies.

Adspo data:

  • Website: petco.com
  • Monthly visits: 16.6M
  • Est. monthly revenue: ~$500M (reported, $1.49B in Q2 2026)
  • Active ads: 1,732 (297 creatives, 31% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 109
  • Top markets: US 77%, Canada 5%, UK 2%
  • Instagram followers: 795K

Growth lesson:

Sell the visit, not the product. Petco's most served ad offers a free first vet exam. A service gets owners through the door in a way a bag of food can't.

What their ads show:

  • 69% of its creatives are images, the highest share of any brand here, and 35% are tagged as retail announcements.
  • The #1 creative by impressions in Petco's account is a "Free first vet exam" image for Vetco Total Care, sending traffic to its vet services page.
  • The longest running active ads are customer testimonial videos for JustFoodForDogs, a fresh food brand sold at Petco, live for 217 days.

Fresh and premium pet food brands

The biggest DTC group. Fresh, air-dried and premium food, mostly sold by subscription, mostly started by asking what's actually in kibble.

3. The Farmer's Dog: the brand that made fresh dog food mainstream

The Farmer's Dog has delivered personalized, freshly cooked dog food direct to owners since 2014. Its site now says it has delivered over 1 billion meals, and The Information reported it was "on pace for $800 million in sales".

It's also reaching beyond its own site. It launched on Walmart.com in April 2026 and completed its first acquisition, the dog enrichment brand Woof.

  • Active ads: 515 (326 creatives, 59% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 163
  • Top markets: US 66%, UK 1%, Canada 1%
  • Instagram followers: 479K

Growth lesson:

Personalize the product, then show the personalization. Every pack carries the dog's name and portion. That one detail does the selling in its ads.

What their ads show:

  • The longest running active creative, live for 736 days, is a simple photo of a hand holding "Spike's Chicken Recipe" next to a golden dog. No text overlay.
  • The #1 creative by impressions in its account is a product shot of a named pack with handwritten callouts: "Real, fresh dog food" and "50% off your first box!"
  • 34% of its creatives send traffic to one offer page, /p/fbigad50.

4. Butternut Box: the UK fresh food brand growing across Europe

Butternut Box was founded in 2016 by Kevin Glynn and David Nolan and sells fresh dog food across the UK and Europe. It raised £280 million in 2023 in a round led by General Atlantic.

Its parent company's accounts show £222.8 million in revenue for 2025, up from £173.7 million in 2024, with a £25.9 million loss before tax as it expanded and built a new facility in Poland.

  • Est. monthly revenue: ~£18.6M (reported, £222.8M in 2025)
  • Active ads: 435 (273 creatives, 68% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 442
  • Top markets: UK 57%, Canada 1%, other markets 64%
  • Instagram followers: 146K

Growth lesson:

Lead every ad with the offer. 83% of Butternut Box's active creatives are tagged Offer / Discount. When the product is a weekly habit, the hard part is the first box.

What their ads show:

  • The #1 creative by impressions in its account is an image: "Fetch 40% off your first two boxes," with a collie meeting the delivery at the door.
  • Its longest running active creative, live for 387 days, recruits "testers" for 3 free months of food.
  • Newer videos use call-out hooks for breeds and dog sizes, like "Are you a dog parent of a Cockapoo, Cavapoo or another Poodle mixed breed?"

5. Smalls: fresh food built for cats

Smalls launched online in 2017 to do for cats what fresh food brands did for dogs. Inc. reported it reached $100 million in annual revenue in 2025, and that for its first eight years it spent less than 30% of its ad budget on Meta.

It moved into stores in October 2025 with a launch at Mud Bay.

  • Active ads: 75 (59 creatives, 75% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 69
  • Top markets: US 90%, Canada 4%, Australia 2%
  • Instagram followers: 205K

Growth lesson:

Answer the objection before the pitch. Every cat owner's fear is the same: my cat won't eat it. Smalls' most served ad says that out loud in its first line.

What their ads show:

  • The #1 creative by impressions in its account opens with "You want to feed your cat better food, but you're terrified they won't even touch it."
  • Its active ads are young: the oldest has run for 75 days, so it rotates creative fast.
  • Every active creative sends traffic to the homepage. The offer, 50% off plus free treats for life, lives on the site, not in the hook.

6. Sundays: air-dried food from a vet

Sundays for Dogs was founded by veterinarian Dr. Tory Waxman and Michael Waxman and sells air-dried, human-grade dog food. It raised a $10 million Series A in 2022 led by Imaginary Ventures, with Ryan Reynolds among the investors.

Its pitch is fresh food without the freezer: the site claims it's up to 55% less expensive than frozen fresh food for large breeds.

  • Active ads: 977 (799 creatives, 67% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 584
  • Top markets: US 96%
  • Instagram followers: 115K

Growth lesson:

Test volume beats test perfection. Sundays runs 799 active creatives on 328K monthly visits, one of the highest creative counts per visitor in this list, and launched 584 new ones in 30 days.

What their ads show:

  • 89% of its creatives send traffic to one landing page, /meta30, with 30% off the first box.
  • Its longest running active creative, live for 187 days, is a UGC video that opens "At the end of the day, she's going to eat whatever I give her for her whole life."
  • The #2 creative by impressions in its account is an ingredient exposé: "I was looking at what's actually in most dog food the other day, and it's kinda crazy."

7. Spot and Tango: UnKibble, made in its own kitchen

Spot and Tango started in a New York kitchen and now makes its fresh and dry "UnKibble" food in its own facility in Allentown, Pennsylvania. It raised a $38.5 million Series B and a $13.25 million Series A, led by Valor Equity Partners.

It launched in Canada in March 2026, its first market outside the US, and the ad data shows it.

  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 120
  • Top markets: US 89%, Canada 39%
  • Instagram followers: 218K

Growth lesson:

Reuse what works in a new market. 39% of Spot and Tango's active creatives target Canada, seven months after launch. Proven US creative is the cheapest way to open a new country.

What their ads show:

  • 56% of its creatives send traffic to /unkibble, its dry food line.
  • The #1 creative by impressions in its account is an offer-led product shot, running across 22 ads.
  • Hooks go after picky eaters and price: "Has your picky dog tried every overpriced frozen food on the market and nothing's worked?"

8. Jinx: the dog food brand that took DTC into stores

Jinx launched in 2020 and sells premium kibble, toppers and cat food. Modern Retail reported it was set to pass $100 million in revenue in 2025, after sales grew 106% from 2023 to 2024.

Most of that growth came from retail. The same report says Jinx expected to reach 10,000 retail doors in 2025, including nearly 1,500 PetSmart stores.

Adspo data:

  • Website: thinkjinx.com
  • Monthly visits: 165K
  • Est. monthly revenue: ~$8.3M (reported, on pace for $100M+ in 2025)
  • Active ads: 218 (75 creatives, 67% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 17
  • Top markets: US 99%
  • Instagram followers: 108K

Growth lesson:

Use Meta to sell the shelf. 36% of Jinx's active creatives send traffic to its Walmart brand pages, not its own site. For a brand in 10,000 stores, the ad's job is to make shoppers look for the bag.

What their ads show:

  • The #1 creative by impressions in its account is a rescue story: "Just a month after losing my childhood dog, I found Billie, a senior dog wandering the streets."
  • Its longest running active creative, live for 506 days, opens with "pet owner habits that are cutting dog life short."
  • Video is mostly emotional owner storytelling, not product demos.

Pet supplement and health brands

The fastest-moving creative accounts in pet. These brands sell chews, powders and oils for joints, teeth, skin and gut, and almost all of them lead with a symptom.

9. Dog is Human: one multivitamin, many problems

Dog is Human launched in April 2022 with a single product, a human-grade dog multivitamin soft chew, after starting as an online dog community. It raised $1.2 million in seed funding that year.

The multivitamin is still the hero. It costs $58 one-time, or about $49 on subscription, the highest single-jar price among the supplement brands here.

Adspo data:

  • Est. monthly revenue: $1.6M to $3.6M (est.)
  • Active ads: 439 (344 creatives, 74% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 880
  • Top markets: US 100%
  • Instagram followers: 506K

Growth lesson:

One product, a landing page for every problem. Dog is Human sells one jar but runs separate pages for itchy skin, yeast, tear stains and breeds like doodles and Frenchies. Each one matches the hook that brought the owner there.

What their ads show:

  • It launched 880 new creatives in 30 days, more than any brand here except Dog Friendly Co.
  • Its longest running active creative, live for 590 days, opens with "Four days, that's literally how little time it took this multivitamin to start healing my dog's yeasty paws." A recut of it is still a top 5 creative in its account.
  • 25% of its creatives are tagged Before & After, the highest share in this list.

10. PetLab Co.: symptom hooks into quiz funnels

PetLab Co. was founded in 2018 and is based in London. It sells probiotic chews, dental powders and allergy chews mainly through social media and online, and BC Partners bought a majority stake in February 2025.

Its flagship is ProBright, a dental powder you add to food. That one product has fed some of the longest running ads in pet.

  • Active ads: 432 (300 creatives, 82% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 553
  • Top markets: US 78%, UK 22%, Canada 12%
  • Instagram followers: 536K

Growth lesson:

Sell the symptom the owner already noticed. Bad breath, itchy paws, paws that smell like corn chips. PetLab's hooks name something the owner saw this morning, then send them to a quiz.

What their ads show:

  • Its longest running active creative, live for 699 days, opens with "You don't need a toothbrush to clean your dog's teeth."
  • The #2 creative by impressions in its account: "If your dog's breath smells like fish, their teeth look like this, and they hate the toothbrush, then you need to listen."
  • 16% of its creatives are tagged Expert / Authority, and most send traffic to quiz and advertorial pages on offers.thepetlabco.com.

11. Zesty Paws: the supplement brand in 23,000 stores

Zesty Paws launched in 2015 and was bought by H&H Group for US$610 million in 2021. H&H says Zesty Paws grew 16.7% like for like in the first half of 2026 and was in more than 23,000 US stores.

H&H doesn't report Zesty Paws' revenue on its own. Its North America pet nutrition segment, which is mostly Zesty Paws plus Solid Gold, reported RMB939.0 million for the half.

  • Est. monthly revenue: $90K to $320K (est., own site only)
  • Active ads: 50 (33 creatives, 64% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 12
  • Top markets: US 79%, Canada 7%
  • Instagram followers: 110K

Growth lesson:

Your own site doesn't have to be the store. Zesty Paws runs a small Meta account for a brand its size. H&H credits Amazon, Chewy and TikTok for its growth, so its own site is only one of many places to buy.

What their ads show:

  • The #1 creative by impressions in its account is a low stock / back in stock static that sends traffic to the full catalog.
  • The #2 creative pushes a 30% off page for new customers.
  • Videos are creator "morning routine" testimonials, like "My dogs accidentally taught me a better morning routine."

12. Native Pet: buy one, get one free

Native Pet was founded in 2017 in St. Louis and sells supplement powders, chews and oils. It raised an $11 million Series B in 2023 led by CAVU, and sells through Amazon, Chewy, Target and CVS as well as its own site.

Its bestsellers cost $17 to $30 one-time, which makes a two-product offer easy to say yes to.

  • Active ads: 168 (81 creatives, 46% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 99
  • Top markets: US 100%
  • Instagram followers: 120K

Growth lesson:

One offer, everywhere. 68% of Native Pet's active creatives send traffic to a single "Build Your Own BOGO" page. Every ad tells the same deal, so every ad builds the same habit.

What their ads show:

  • The longest running active creative, live for 233 days, is a Before & After image of a dog's teeth for Clean Breath, with the BOGO offer.
  • The #2 creative by impressions in its account is a straight BOGO offer static.
  • It's one of four brands here running more images than video (54% image).

13. Pet Honesty: supplements, now with a cat focus

Pet Honesty was founded in 2018 by Ben and Camille Arneberg in Austin, Texas. Vestar Capital Partners made a majority investment in 2021, and the brand said in 2024 it had grown to over 9,000 stores, including Target.

Its dog bestsellers cost $29 to $33 one-time. Its ads, though, are mostly about cats.

  • Active ads: 83 (75 creatives, 87% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 74
  • Top markets: US 100%
  • Instagram followers: 59K

Growth lesson:

Find the underserved pet. Most supplement brands talk to dog owners. Pet Honesty's most served ads talk to cat owners, about hairballs and senior cats.

What their ads show:

  • 87% of its creatives are video, the highest share in this list, and 65% are customer testimonials.
  • Its longest running active creative, live for 400 days, opens with "Here's how I keep Rascal healthy as he gets older and older each day."
  • Some of its newest ads send traffic to Amazon instead of its own site.

Pet toy, accessory and subscription box brands

Two very different ways to sell things that aren't food: a monthly box of surprises, and one product sold to everyone.

14. BarkBox: the subscription box that pulled back on ads

BARK was founded in 2011 and sells the BarkBox and Super Chewer subscriptions, plus toys through Target, Chewy and Amazon. It reported $78.8 million in revenue for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, down 23.4%, with an average order value of $31.25.

The company says the drop comes from a smaller subscriber base after it deliberately pulled back marketing. Advertising and marketing spend fell to $9.5 million in the quarter, from $15.2 million a year earlier.

Adspo data:

  • Monthly visits: 1.2M
  • Est. monthly revenue: ~$26M (reported, $78.8M in fiscal Q1 2027)
  • Active ads: 48 (32 creatives, 38% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 17
  • Top markets: US 69%
  • Instagram followers: 2.0M

Growth lesson:

Fewer ads means fewer new subscribers. BARK has the biggest Instagram following here and one of the smallest active ad accounts. Its own results show what happens to a subscription business when acquisition slows.

What their ads show:

  • 84% of its active creatives are tagged Offer / Discount, almost all "free gift with your first box" deals.
  • The #1 creative by impressions in its account is styled as an email: "FREE DOG BED," a $49 Ollie the Octopus bed with the first BarkBox.
  • Each gift gets its own landing page, like /pages/join-barkbox-ollie-bed-free-ff.

15. Dog Friendly Co.: one harness, thousands of ads

Dog Friendly Co. was started by Sydney siblings Sandra Abade and Luka Maric, after Sandra couldn't find a comfortable harness for her Aussie Bulldog, Carlos. Its Amazon seller story describes a team of about 20 spread around the world.

Its bestselling harness costs $39 to $45, and bundles run up to about $112.

Adspo data:

  • Est. monthly revenue: $1.2M to $5.2M (est.)
  • Active ads: 5,066 (2,558 creatives, 57% video)
  • New creatives in the last 30 days: 1,413
  • Top markets: US 97%, Australia 16%, New Zealand 16%
  • Instagram followers: 219K

Growth lesson:

Test the landing page as hard as the ad. Dog Friendly Co.'s top creatives each run as dozens of ads pointing to different pages: listicles, advertorials, bundle offers. The product barely changes. The page around it does.

What their ads show:

  • 2,558 active creatives and 1,413 new ones in 30 days: the most of any DTC brand in this list, from a team of about 20.
  • The #1 creative by impressions in its account is a health hook: "dog pulling, dog not pulling, this causes long-term tracheal damage, while this keeps their neck completely unrestricted."
  • 49% of its creatives are demos, and the #3 creative is pure FOMO: "I paid full price two weeks ago, then this happened."

DTC pet brands are moving into stores

The Farmer's Dog launched on Walmart.com in April 2026. Smalls went into Mud Bay in October 2025. Jinx expected 10,000 doors in 2025, and Zesty Paws is in more than 23,000 US stores.

Online built these brands. Retail is where they're going next. Jinx already sends 36% of its active creatives to Walmart pages instead of its own site.

Actionable takeaway: If you sell in stores, test ads that point to your retail pages, not just your own checkout.

The first box is a loss leader

The Farmer's Dog leads with 50% off the first box, Butternut Box with 40% off two boxes, Sundays with 30%, Native Pet with buy one get one free and BarkBox with a free bed. 83% of Butternut Box's active creatives and 84% of BarkBox's are tagged Offer / Discount.

That only works because pets eat every day. Chewy's 84.6% Autoship share shows how much of the money is in the repeat order.

Actionable takeaway: Price your first-order offer against the lifetime of a subscriber, not the margin on one box.

Supplements sell with symptoms

PetLab Co., Dog is Human, Native Pet and Pet Honesty all lead with something an owner can see: bad breath, itchy paws, tear stains, hairballs. Their top ads name the symptom in the first line.

It works because owners don't search for "probiotic chews." They search for why their dog keeps licking its paws.

Actionable takeaway: Write your hooks from the problems owners describe, then build a landing page for each one.

Video leads, and volume wins

11 of the 15 brands run more video than image creatives. The four that don't are Chewy, Petco, Native Pet and BarkBox. Dog Friendly Co., Dog is Human, Sundays and PetLab Co. each launched more than 550 new creatives in the last 30 days.

Actionable takeaway: Plan creative in batches, not one-offs. The brands growing fastest here test hundreds of variations a month.

How to apply these lessons to your brand

Study the offer, not just the creative

Most of the top pet ads are offers in disguise. The hook gets attention, but the first-box deal does the converting.

Action step: Follow these brands in Adspo and note the offer on each of their top creatives by impressions. You'll see which deals they keep paying to show.

Copy the landing page structure

Dog is Human, Dog Friendly Co. and PetLab Co. send ads to pages built for one hook: a problem page, a listicle or a quiz. Our supplement landing page examples show the same pattern up close.

Action step: Open the top landing pages for each brand in Adspo and map which hook leads to which page.

Find the ads that last

The Farmer's Dog has a photo ad that has run for 736 days. PetLab Co. has a dental video at 699 days. Brands rarely keep paying for an ad that doesn't work.

Action step: Sort any brand's ads by longest running in Adspo. For more long-running ads across categories, see our best Facebook ad examples.

Based on Adspo traffic and ad data pulled on October 23, 2026, the top pet brands include Chewy and Petco in retail, The Farmer's Dog, Butternut Box, Smalls, Sundays, Spot and Tango and Jinx in food, Dog is Human, PetLab Co., Zesty Paws, Native Pet and Pet Honesty in supplements, and BarkBox and Dog Friendly Co. in toys and accessories.

What is the biggest pet brand by revenue?

Of the brands in this list, Chewy is the biggest by far, with reported net sales of $3.33 billion in the quarter ended August 2, 2026. Petco reported $1.49 billion for the quarter ended August 1, 2026. Among younger brands, Butternut Box reported £222.8 million for 2025, and Smalls and Jinx have each been reported at about $100 million a year.

How much revenue do pet brands make per month?

It ranges widely. Reported figures in this list run from about $26 million a month (BARK, $78.8 million in its June 2026 quarter) to about $1.1 billion a month (Chewy). Where a brand doesn't report revenue, we estimate its own-site sales from Adspo traffic, a published conversion benchmark and the brand's own prices, and mark the figure as an estimate.

How do pet brands advertise on Meta?

11 of the 15 brands run more video than image creatives, and almost every DTC food brand leads with a first-box offer, like 50% off at The Farmer's Dog or a free dog bed at BarkBox. Supplement brands lean on symptom hooks such as bad breath, itchy paws and tear stains, while Chewy and Petco run ads for the brands they stock.

How can I see a pet brand's ads?

The free Meta Ad Library shows any brand's active ads, but it doesn't rank them or show what's working. Adspo shows every active creative for 10,000+ verified brands, ranked by impressions within the brand's own account, with runtime, landing pages, target countries, creative velocity and website traffic. You can try it free for 7 days.

Conclusion

Pet is a $158 billion market where owners stay loyal once something works. The brands winning in 2026 earn that loyalty with a big first-box offer, a hook that names a real problem, and enough creative testing to find the ads that last.
